VACUUM PROBLEM GUIDE

Dyson not charging or losing runtime?

A short-running vacuum does not always need a new battery. The charger, power mode, temperature and an airflow fault can change what you see. Start with the exact model and symptoms.

Ask about your vacuum

Check safely before buying a battery.

If the battery is swollen, leaking, unusually hot or smells burnt, stop using and charging it. Contact Colin before bringing or sending it. Do not open a battery pack or try to repair its cells.

For a machine without those warning signs, follow its manual: check the wall outlet and the connection of the correct manufacturer-approved charger. Note any light pattern or screen message. Let a recently used machine cool before charging; temperature can affect operation. Do not force a connector or substitute a charger because it looks similar.

Short runtime, pulsing or no charge?

Compare runtime in the same power mode with the same attachment. Boost or Max uses more power than ordinary cleaning modes, so a short Boost run alone does not identify a failed battery. Tell us whether runtime has changed under your usual conditions.

If the machine repeatedly pulses, check the airflow and blockage guide. If the motor runs but the brush stops, see cleaner-head troubleshooting. Cleaning and battery replacement solve different problems.

Can a Dyson stay on its charger?

Compatible Dyson cordless models are designed to remain on their approved charger between uses; you do not normally need to unplug after every charge. Follow your exact model’s instructions, use its approved charger and let the machine cool after use. Other brands, batteries and models may have different requirements.

Battery assessment and replacement in Murray.

Bring the vacuum, battery and charger after confirming arrangements. Colin checks the charging and operating symptoms before recommending a replacement. Model identification, battery attachment type, suitable parts and the machine’s condition matter; replacement availability and price are confirmed individually.

Initial inspection and reasonable troubleshooting are free ($0). Colin explains the findings, recommended work and price, then you decide what happens next. There’s no obligation to approve a repair; if you decline, collect your vacuum with no diagnostic fee. Extensive disassembly, specialized testing, deep cleaning and repair work require a separate quote and your approval before any paid work begins. No paid repairs, replacement parts or additional services without your approval.

An extended timed runtime test is a separate optional service, quoted and approved first. A measured runtime describes the recorded mode and attachment; it is not an exact battery-health percentage or a promise of future life.

Repair, replacement or manufacturer support?

If your vacuum may have manufacturer coverage, check with Dyson before approving independent paid work. That Suucks is independent and is not an authorized Dyson service center. If repair is poor value, we will explain why; available refurbished vacuums are another option to discuss.

Before you book.

Can you quote a battery from the model name alone?

Send the exact model, symptoms and charger details. Colin confirms the compatible part and price before any purchase or installation.

Is an assessment free?

Should I buy a battery before bringing it in?

You can ask for an assessment first. A charging or operating symptom does not establish which part needs replacing.
